Car Tips - How to Handle Staged Car Accidents

To the average person, a car accident is one of the least desirable situations in which they could find themselves. An auto accident can be dangerous, traumatic, and expensive.

Unfortunately, some people do cause accidents on purpose. In fact, staged car accidents are becoming more common in the United States. Perpetrators of fraudulent accidents intend to make money by submitting bogus claims.

Types of Accident Scams

Staged car accidents are typically carefully planned and practiced. Described below are some common schemes.

The T-Bone Accident

In this scenario, a scam artist will wait for your car to proceed through an intersection and then jam the gas pedal and T-bone your vehicle. When the police arrive, phony witnesses, also known as “shady helpers,” will then claim you were the one who ran the stop sign or traffic signal.

The Wave

In this scam, the other driver will notice your attempt to switch lanes and subsequently wave you ahead. As you attempt to maneuver into the lane, he will accelerate, causing a collision with your car. When the police arrive, he will deny ever providing a courtesy wave, placing you at fault.

Dual Turn Sideswipe

A driver in the outer lane of the dual turn rams into you if you go even the slightest bit out of the inner lane as the two of you are making your turns. They may also drive a bit into your lane and swipe your car and then blame you.
“Witnesses” working with the con artist may corroborate his story.

Brake Slam

This simple scam involves the driver in front of you slamming on their brakes for no reason so that you cannot avoid rear-ending her vehicle.

Swoop and Stop

In this scenario, a car will suddenly pull in front of yours and stop. Another vehicle will simultaneously pull up alongside your car, preventing you from swerving to avoid an accident.

Phony Injuries

In any fraudulent accident, you may find yourself on the hook for injuries you didn’t cause. The con artists and their passengers may collaborate with a shady physician or chiropractor and file personal injury claims for phony injuries.
Some may even visit legitimate doctors and claim whiplash or other "soft tissue injuries," which are difficult to detect.

Towing Scams

Once you’ve been in an accident, you may need a tow. Don’t let your guard down at this point, even though the accident is over. You are still susceptible to towing scams.
Be especially careful of tow trucks that appear before you have a chance to call for assistance.
Someone who appears on the scene and offers to help before you ask for help may be attempting to scam you by offering a tow at very inflated rates.

Negative Consequences of Scams

Car insurance scams can have consequences ranging from inconvenient to devastating. They can have the following effects.

            • Expense. You may be stuck paying for damages you didn’t cause.
            • Inconvenience. Even if you are unhurt and your insurance company ultimately pays for the damage, the process can be long as you get your car fixed and file the claim and police report. If you add a lawsuit to the mix, you’re looking at even more time until resolution.
            • Higher auto insurance premiums. Car insurance companies pay more when fraud occurs, and those costs are balanced out by increased premiums for everyone.
            • Trauma. Getting in your car after being a victim of a staged car accident can be scary because you may feel that you cannot avoid an accident no matter how careful you are.
            • Injury and death. Scammers don’t necessarily intend to hurt or kill anyone, but staged car accidents can go terribly wrong.

How to Avoid Accident Scams

The best ways to avoid accident scams are to drive carefully and be prepared. Keep a camera, pen, and paper in the car so that you can take photos and notes at the scene.
Also, be aware that some groups are at higher risk for being victims. Risk factors include the following:

            • Luxury vehicles and new cars – They may have higher insurance limits.
            • Work vehicles and big rigs – Car insurance scams on these vehicles may be more lucrative.
            • Women and older adults – Con artists may find these drivers easier to intimidate.

Handling a Fraudulent Accident

Staged car accident scam artists are vulnerable to facts. The more information you provide, the more equipped you are to fight an insurance scam.
Snap photos from every angle of the involved vehicles, with special focus on the damage. Also, capture on camera the license plate, as well as photos of the driver all the passengers in the other vehicle.

Take copious notes, and record as much as you can of the following:

            • Driver license number.
            • Vehicle registration information.
            • Car insurance information.
            • Name, address, and phone number.
            • The general height and weight (as well as the ethnicity) of the other car's driver and passengers.

Also, call the police if you suspect that you were in a staged accident.
Don’t ever settle on site with cash; always report the accident to your car insurance company, and let them know if you suspect a scam.

Pensotti Quality Heating Boilers and Panel Radiators - A COMMITMENT TO QUALITY

PNA, Inc. is proud to supply you and our network of dealers with the high quality PENSOTTI BLUELINE Cast Iron Boiler throughout the North American marketplace.

We are confident that your purchase of the PENSOTTI home comfort package will provide years of efficient, economical, trouble-free operation.

"Quality remains long after the price is forgotten".

The PENSOTTI BLUELINE boiler is a high efficiency residential heating appliance that provides maximum energy utilization and the highest efficiency.

Fuel cost savings can only be achieved by matching the PENSOTTI BLUELINE boiler to the true heat loss of your residence. During the past couple of decades, the trend towards improving wall and ceiling insulation levels and eliminating air infiltration by caulking and weather-stripping, has made most existing heating appliances oversized.

When you purchase a PENSOTTI home comfort system your new appliance will be sized on the basis of the new heat loss calculation. This will ensure that your new PENSOTTI home comfort system will deliver only the amount of heat required to match your actual home’s heating demand. We want to provide you with the maximum comfort level achievable combined with the highest fuel cost savings.

The following are useful bits of information presented under a series of sub-headings.

Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency (A.F.U.E.)

The A.F.U.E. is a measure of the estimated ability of a heating appliance to extract heat from the fuel, based on a full heating season.

The A.F.U.E. increases as the burner on time increases until it reaches ‘steady-state efficiency’. Steady state is the efficiency of the appliance measured when the burner is running.

Any time the burner cycles on and off, the A.F.U.E. drops because of "off-cycle" losses. The A.F.U.E. drops most sharply when the heating plant operates between 10 and 30% burner on time.
An increase in the percentage of burner on time improves the A.F.U.E.

A General Comment

The PENSOTTI BLUELINE boiler is a high quality, efficient oilfired heating appliance, which must be installed and serviced by a trained and if required licensed service technician.

Oilfired installations should be installed in accordance with NFPA31 and NFPA211 when no local code is in effect. Be sure that the installation is according to all National, State and local codes and authorities having jurisdiction over heating, electrical, plumbing and oil burner systems.

The electrical system to this unit should be supplied by a separate circuit provided with a fused disconnect switch at the service panel.

All boiler installations must conform to the A.S.M.E. Boiler Code. If the boiler requires National Board approval consult PNA, Inc. for special order. Many states and local authorities require National Board inspection and registration for installation in buildings used for public assembly, more than four (4) apartments, etc.

It is important therefore that these instructions be followed carefully and that a competent PENSOTTI dealer installs the BLUELINE Series boiler only.

The boiler should only be used as the primary heating source of a well-designed and installed hydronic heating.

It is the responsibility of the installer to ensure that this boiler is installed properly and that all settings and adjustments are made before putting the unit into service.

The boiler is provided with a Lifetime Limited Warranty. A copy of the warranty is found on the inside front cover.

Hawkfield Gallery Consultants Review - Fine Art of Buying Art

First things first, do you have any idea on what an art gallery is?

For those who do not possess in-depth understanding on the role of art gallery – it is a space where different art forms are presented to public for viewing. Paintings, drawings, photography, sculptures, pottery, relics, jewelries with historical value, ancient manuscripts and archeological artifacts are some art forms that can be seen in a particular art gallery.

Art galleries exhibit art works not just to recognize and appreciate talented artists but also to help art buyers in purchasing art work that will suit their art preferences. Art consultants of a gallery may also provide assistance to those looking for a certain piece of art that interest them even if it is not in the gallery.

In some cases, art works displayed are not directly owned by the gallery but consigned to them by the artists or the owner of the artwork. This means that the artwork is loaned to a gallery for display and potential sale. This type of agreement doesn’t involve money on both sides (gallery owner and seller), not until the consigned piece is bought by a client.

One thing artists want to achieve is to have their art displayed in an art gallery and make them sellable. Hawkfield Gallery relieves artists of the need to do advertising of their works. Their website provides a list of artist they represent and they even encourage other artists to present their artworks for evaluation.

A person with knowledge in the gallery business is aware that appraising artworks are a delicate process. The very nature of price building in art is subjective to the current trends in the market. Art consultants and experts uses comparative sales approach by applying current auction sales as the basis for pricing art works.

Hawkfield Gallery has a diverse range of art at an accessible price. You don’t need to have deep pockets to own an art piece. By visiting art auctions and antique shops, the gallery gains knowledge into the quality and value of many different artworks they have collected. This ensures clients that what they see at Hawkfield is not only a broad representation of classic American art but also guaranteed high-quality and in reasonable price

Harmony Chinese Takeaway Review: Your Bournemouth stop for the best Chinese foods

We always want adventure when it comes to food. Most of us would even visit a lot of different places just to taste various dishes. For someone who loves Chinese foods, you should try Harmony Chinese Takeaway located in Southbourne, a suburb of Bournemouth in Dorset. They offer great service to their customers with their delicious food. Local people only have praise to this takeaway and their reviews are available on top food or travel websites, which provide reviews of related content.

Local people also feel fortunate for having such takeaway in their area. They often invite their family and friends to try the food at Harmony Chinese Takeaway. The people managing the place are all friendly and only provide tasty food at a reasonable price. People continue to order at this place often every time they want Chinese cuisines.

With their mouthwatering food, they definitely have an amazing cook. The location of the takeaway is also easily accessible to a lot of people and could catch the interest of the tourists who love food adventures. You will surely enjoy their food and would love to come back again.

My friends and family also tried a lot of different dish from other eateries, and Harmony Chinese Takeaway was by far the most loved and the best one for them. Unlike from other takeaways, Harmony always provides prompt service with accurate orders, because others sometimes give wrong orders.

On a different thought, their rice was also cooked very well and it’s a good bonus because it was not too greasy or salty. People we invited to try Harmony Chinese Takeaway also think the same way as we do, and always give positive feedback to the takeaway. They pledged to become loyal customers after tasting its incredible food. Harmony and its different cuisines satisfied the flavor of many customers, and its good standards impressed me as well as other people.

Online Security: Fighting Online Fraud Through eDNA

Long ago, a cartoon ran in The New Yorker, showing a canine seated at a desktop computer. “On the internet,” ran the caption, “nobody knows you’re a dog.”

The same premise holds true today and poses a knotty question in online commerce and FinTech: How do you know the person on the other end of a transaction is really who they say they are? And even if you do confirm their identity, how do you know that person can be trusted?

One firm, IdentityMind Global, provides real-time risk management and fraud prevention through “digital identities,” collecting data across dozens of parameters, separating the financial ecosystem into good actors — those deserving of trust (and completed transactions) — and, well, bad actors.

In an interview with PYMNTS’ Karen Webster, Garrett Gafke, president, CEO and founder of IdentityMind Global, said that the construction of digital identities, by necessity, goes well beyond data that might be thought of as standard, such as a street address, a credit card number or a two-factor security question test.

True merchant risk goes hand-in-hand with global digital commerce and, as Gafke described it, comes in the form of people with little or no history — no history of driver’s licenses, credit cards issued, traditional bank accounts or other standard bits of information. They may not even be scored by the traditional credit bureaus. Yet, these individuals are looking to do business and conduct transactions. Their would-be partners on the other end of the transaction must decide whether to enter into a relationship (however fleeting) with that consumer … or not.

Gafke noted that “transactions of any kind leave a kind of financial, online exhaust” and that each transaction has attributes that, taken together over time, ultimately, can be assembled into a digital identity. “This is real, current information,” said Gafke, “rather than just public, physical information. Good reputations are built slowly, while bad reputations come very quickly.”

That digital identity is established, as Gafke said, in IdentityMind Global’s platform, which links and finds correlations between disparate bits of information and transaction trails that “process, capture, rate and build overall profiles on online identities.” Emails, digital wallets and payments are all linked together, said the executive, to build a “trusted” digital identity.

“Trust” would be the operative word in the relationship between individuals and the firms with which they seek to do business. Trust would also extend to, and be colored by, the people associated with that individual or business. Consider how, in the age of social media, amidst concerns about money laundering, an individual might be viewed with demonstrable trails of following, say, terrorist-linked groups on Twitter.

In a recent whitepaper by the firm, IdentityMind Global also noted that additional data points may come from internet-enabled devices, which can, for instance, help bring location into consideration when determining good actors from bad and in screening across sanctioned individuals or nations.

Using these techniques, said IdentityMind Global in its whitepaper, can help reduce manual review time. There is also a financially positive impact, via a 60 percent reduction in transactional fraud from chargebacks and a 90 percent reduction in fraud that comes at the point of account origination.

Singapore review: Unified Message Switch (UMS) for public safety

Due to the increasing number of natural calamities and disasters these past few years, there's a need for entrepreneurs and government authorities around the world to develop modern relief and emergency response solutions.

Many organizations are also providing ways to protect lives and reduce damage on properties. They are driving the public to always be ready in case of such tragedies. Different institutions should also deliver instructions on how to address sudden risks. Everybody is entitled to their own safety as well as the safety of other people, especially the members of their family.

Taking advantage of technology to provide help to the public is widely used nowadays because it helps the public increase their awareness and capability in handling the risks brought by natural or human-induced disasters. People could be more confident and have a greater determination to support and secure the community if each person has a life-support during any emergency situations, and this is where technology could be of greater use because people could use it as a tool to handle and to move on with any danger.

Metropolitan Wireless International is really committed to public safety, thus they create a solution that has efficient and faster transmission that can help people in disaster management and other rapid-response situations. This solution is called the Unified Message Switch (UMS), which allows users to send messages in various social media formats in one unified infrastructure and also has vital communication links. UMS also provides greater advantage and flexibility to particular messaging requirements in areas such as construction, medical service, police work, and transportation.

"Prevention is better than cure," that's why MWI is encouraging the people to always be prepared to manage or minimize the damages caused by natural or human-induced disasters. Communication is vital to ensure public safety and to manage its risks with least amount of time, cost and damage.

For the past few years, MWI and its creations invariably serve as a nexus to improve public safety and the company has been developing advanced solutions for the benefit of the public. They already have an extensive and solid experience in this field and clients could always depend on their expertise.
